Victoria Lawson
Congratulations Victoria! A 2020 Graduate of Armijo High School in Fairfield California, Victoria was recently recognized by Constitution Literacy Advocates for the extraordinary feat of earning the Grand Prize Award in the Solano County Constitution Essay Contest three consecutive years, 2017- 2019. The award presentation was originally planned for early Spring, but was postponed due to Covid-19.
Educators, Elected officials, and proud citizens of Solano County met in the shade in front of the Solano County Offices on August 3, 2020 to honor Victoria and present her with a specially designed plaque to commemorate her accomplishment. Those present included Kris Corey, Superintendent of Schools for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, Sheila Smith, Principal of Armijo High School, Brian Bruzynski, Assistant Principal of Armijo High School, Tim Goree, Executive Director, Administrative Services and Community Engagement, Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, Skip Thomson, Solano County Supervisor, and supporters of Constitution Literacy Advocates.
We can be proud of Victoria! She brings a ray of hope and promise for a brighter future to us during a time of great uncertainty. Her many accomplishments extend far beyond her writing skills, and are enumerated in her bio below.
Victoria Lawson, a graduate of Armijo High School's class of 2020, earned the International Baccalaureate diploma while graduating with Highest Honors, Golden State Seal of Merit, and the State Seal of Biliteracy. She participated in several clubs at her high school, and was the president of Key Club, Future Medical Professional Club, and the College and Career Club. Additionally, she was the vice-president of the National Honor Society. Through these clubs, she made a positive impact on campus and in the community. In the community, she contributed to the well-being of people by participating in the monthly Matt Garcia Foundation Downtown Clean-up, Girls on the Run Napa/Solano, and organizing and volunteering for fundraisers that supported the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Program. During the past two years, Victoria volunteered at the North Bay Hospital in Fairfield.
This Fall, Victoria will be attending the prestigious and historic University of Pennsylvania as a pre-med student and will be majoring in biology. After undergraduate studies, she plans to complete medical school and become a board-certified anesthesiologist. After her education and training, Victoria plans to return to Solano County and provide healthcare to the members of the community.
There is no doubt, Victoria has set a HIGH BAR for future Constitution Essay Contest entries. We look forward to this year's contest and discovering new talented and thoughtful high school students in our community.
